Default New armor TYPES for core professions?

Do you think there will be new armor types for the core professions in nightfall, like factions? (not to be confused with armor art)

If so, try to to guess what they could be.

(yea meant to type core professions not core skills... im tired)

well they added the MM armor in factions... why not give something for the SS too... give bonus armor for the hex or hexes on target attacking you.

If there are new armor stats, we'll probably see them this weekend.

I doubt it, personally... I know they added +health armors for every profession, and Sentinels for warriors... But I don't see what else would be terribly useful...

I was just thinking about that.
A new useful type would be a set with resistance against certain elements for warriors.

For instance.

Emblazoned Armor:
Armor:80
Armor+20(vs Fire)

no other mods besides the elemental bonus. Just a thought.

Then Rangers/Eles wouldn't uniquely have their elementally attuned armors, I don't think that it's a terribly good idea... Perhaps I could see armor types if they were valid additions to the PVP aspects of the game...

I just thought of one that could be useful to all classes, unavailable to Necro however... +20 armor vs Holy Damage, or -___ holy damage per piece (since the holy damage ignores armor?), or something to that affect. This would allow people to be less vulnerable to Dervish's holy damage spikes, if they still present the problems that were present in the PVP preview of the game

First of all rangers/eles are not the only class with armor that gives elemental resistant armor. And second I think that is a good idea, keeping the base armor at 80 and giving a +20 to certain element seems quite fair.

As far as classes that are currently in the game, yes, they are. Dervish and Paragons will also apparently be able to get armors that are specifically resistant to certain elemental damage types, but they are not yet in the game.

Show me one other type, besides Elementalists and Rangers that have a +AL to specific elemental damage types as a choice for their armors.

Mesmers get +armor while hexed options, Necros get +armor for controlling minions, Rits get +armor for holding items, or for number of spirits controlled... Assassins can get armors that add AL for certain melee damage types, and warriors get armors that offer additional protection vs physical damage types, or armors that offer a bonus for having 13+ strength...

Now, which one of these are you saying offers protection from lightning, cold, or fire damage? What class besides Elementalist and Ranger, that is in the game already, possesses these unique armor modifiers?

some thoughts...

Rangers: Beastmaster armor (gives pets health or other bonuses)
Monks: Bonus armor for maintain enchantments
Elementalist: Bonus armor while in wards
Mesmer: Bonus armor for points in Fast Casting
Necromancer: Bonus armor for points in Curses
Warrior: Armor that combats degen (ex: all conditions do one less pip of degen) but is a little weaker otherwise.

I like these ideas, although the ele armor could result in a LOT more turtling... Perhaps in ch4 they could add it along with a skill that collapses wards, or puts up and anti-ward...

Also, a wells necro armor that would add armor while standing in a well could feasibly be useful in AB or HA...

I'm kind of curious about this as well. I've been saving off buying any new armor (mostly my FoW), until I'm sure what new stats will be available.
Right now though, it is all speculation, but honestly I can't think of anything else that would be useful/fair (ie, ele armor with +energy like druids/scar pattern would be cool, but wouldn't be fair to current game mechanics, nor would +al vs ele for a class besides the ones that already have it).
More armor types would seriously start to be a bit cluttered and be a lot harder to balance.

Very nice ideas! We'll have to see what Anet gives us during the event.

Those are good ideas Goonter. I'm sure that we will see new armor effects in Nightfall. Count on it.

Elementalist wouldn't need +energy armors because of their primary attribute, energy storage. They have no trouble managing their energy, if some people know how to play them.

I think that is what he was getting at, Sai
I think some of the armours could be shared around a bit. Like while hexed, for monks, while enchanted for necros. *shrug* We'll just have to wait and see.
